Alex Elle of The BALM Company
"The Balm Company basically started last year when my now 7 year old daughter said "I want to make lip balms and sell them, momma." Naturally I wanted to nurse her young entrepreneurial spirit, so a few weeks later we made lip balm packs and sold them on Instagram. She wrote her customers handwritten notes to say 'thank you' and she was able to stick some of her money into her piggy bank. She was thrilled and so proud! Being a full time 'mommaprenuer' I knew we could create something great together and give back to the community simultaneously. A year later we have or first mommy daughter business made specifically for families. Ten percent of the sales will go to a women's shelter in our area and in the 2015 we will be dropping off gift baskets to families in need.We are proud to say our goodies are vegan, handmade with fair trade ingredients and all natural. They are also GMO and gluten free. Char (my little one) helps me put scents together and works alongside me with packaging. It's a fun time! Even though sometimes she's 'over it' and just wants to go watch 'My Little Pony'.... lol. That comes with the territory of having a first grader as your business partner. She's the best co-owner on the block if you ask me! ;)Silliness aside, I can't wait until she looks back years from now and sees the greatness she started. This is magical for me as a mother and us as family. Words can't describe how happy I am to be on this journey with my little lady. All of our items are made to order in small fresh batches. They are also filled with love and care from our family to yours. We are so excited to bring this line to you! And I can't wait to see where this will take us within the maker community. with love + gratitude, alex (momma) + char (kiddo)."-Alex Elle
